Walters Workshops, London, W10
Walters Workshops a place where music and history has been made!
Behind the workshop gates you can find the legendary Eastcote Studios along with Kensal Town Studios and many smaller creative businesses in a warren of studio spaces for creatives often frequented by some very well-known faces. With a proven track record of working sympathetically with period warehouse buildings, Harvey-Design was contracted to provide the creative vision for the extensive building refurbishment. Working as part of a team consisting of the owners and managing agent. Works included restoring the building façade, replacement of steel windows, common area upgrades, conversion of unused storage areas to rental units, building new WC facilities in a disused storage area, bespoke gate design and re-branding (with 113 Creative). The balance was to retain the unique character and spirit of this special place to ensure the story of the building was not lost.
Our approach was to enhance the experience of the unexpected surprise visitors have when they first open the gates and walk into the quirky world of Walters. To blur the lines between past works, the original building, and new installations. Design solutions rooted in the buildings history and essence.
